Graze Sweet Treat May 2017 Snack Box

Graze is a mini-snack subscription box that sends a customized selection of treats weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Graze offers over 100 different snacks that you can rate online, which, over time, helps tailor your subscription to your particular snacking preferences. I spent some time choosing preferences, noting which options I wanted to try, think I would like, or “trash” and prefer not to receive. That being said, your Graze box may look completely different!

For subscribers with food sensitivities, it’s easy to “trash” snacks that contain gluten, dairy, or any other specific ingredient; however, Graze snacks are produced in a facility with nuts, wheat, milk, and many other foods that might not make this subscription a good fit for anyone with severe food allergies.

Boxes are shipped via USPS and are conveniently designed to fit in most standard mailboxes.

Graze Sweet Treat May 2017 Snack Box

I’ve been receiving the 8-snack variety for the last few months, so this month I decided to change it up! I was able to easily switch to the Sweet Treat box under the “Manage My Box” section of their site.

Each box comes with a personalized booklet that provides nutritional facts for each of the snacks in your box, along with a few coupons.

Chocolate Cherry Protein Granola Topper

Of course, I’m going to start my snacking with a little chocolate! This granola topper is comprised on cocoa granola, chopped hazelnuts, freeze dried cherry, and soya protein crispies. The mix is crunchy with a slight tartness from the cherry. But mostly, it reminds me of Cocoa Puffs cereal but a bit more bland. Not in a bad way, but this is not the most exciting snack in the bunch.

Baobab & Raspberry Clusters

I like this mix of apple pieces, pumpkin seeds, and raspberry clusters! The dried raspberry is slightly sweet and the apple pieces are tart which tastes great together. The pumpkin seeds add additional crunch, and, of course, fat and protein. It’s nice and colorful too!

Peachy Orchard

This snack is really sweet, so I’ve deemed it my favorite this month! Peachy Orchard consists of peach drops, rhubarb, and pear. The peach drops and rhubarb are soft and gummy-like so it’s super easy to eat. The dried pear adds a weird texture for me, but the mild sweetness is needed to balance what tastes like a lot of sugar coming from the peach drops. Sure enough, after looking at the nutritional facts, this snack has a whopping 20 grams of sugar! Totally makes sense I would gravitate to the most sugary option this month.

Strawberries and Cream Protein Granola Topper

This is a repeat snack from March, but I’m not complaining. I continue to enjoy this granola mix. It’s mildly sweet and tastes healthy, but not bland. In addition to granola, yogurt-coated strawberry and strawberry pieces are mixed in. The strawberries taste similar to those in Special K Red Berries cereal – a bit tart but really good! I added this mix to vanilla greek yogurt and it was delicious!

Lemon Almond Cookies & Tea

I’ve also received this cookie and tea combo before and I really need to remember to “trash” this snack in my preferences. I typically love lemon but found these almond, spelt, and oat cookies to be dry and bland. If you like the hardness of biscotti, this is the cookie for you, especially when dipped in the black tea. It’s a quaint snack, but not my favorite.

Chocolate Pecan Pie

A new Graze snack to me! I love pie and I love chocolate, so the name is music to my ears. Chocolate Pecan Pie consists of chocolate fudge, pecans, dates, and vanilla pumpkin seeds. What an interesting and unexpected mix! It has a slight pecan pie vibe and overall good. The dates are soft and sweet and the unsalted pecans and pumpkin seeds create a subtle crunch. I wish there were more fudge pieces because I don’t really notice them with all of the other flavors.

Cinnamon, Date & Honey Pure Bars

I received three bars, each consisting of pumpkin, sesame, and sunflower seeds, along with dates, honey, and cinnamon. The cinnamon is the most obvious flavor and I wish it was toned down a bit. Overall these bars are a great snack, though, because they’re super substantial. One bar can easily satisfy a mid-afternoon craving.

Caramel Apple Dippers

Last but not least is this simple snack consisting of dried apple pieces and caramel apple sauce. Aside from the texture of the dried apple, I thoroughly enjoy this snack each time I receive it. The caramel sauce is super sweet and each apple piece can be generously dipped in it. It’s pretty straightforward and you’re almost guaranteed to receive one of Graze‘s dippers each month, unless you change your preferences.

Verdict: This was my first Sweet Treat box and I’m happy! I liked everything but the cookie and tea snack. But the great part is that this subscription is completely customizable and I can rate what I like and don’t like for future shipments. For $13.99 shipped, I received 8 different snacks, which breaks down to $1.75 a snack (the majority of containers are under 2oz.). Comparing price/oz. to supermarket organic snacks, this seems a bit higher in my opinion. However, for the most part, Graze provides healthy alternatives to the junk food I crave, so I am willing to pay more for a variety of higher quality snacks delivered to my house each month (or weekly or bi-weekly if I choose).

Do you subscribe to Graze? What were your favorite snacks this month?
