When you sign up to join Winc, you take a short, fun “palate profile” quiz that helps determine your taste in wine. Based on your answers, Winc makes bottle recommendations for you every month. You can go along with their recommendations or choose your own bottles from their regularly changing selection.

Now, on to the wine!

2016 Outer Sounds Sauvignon Blanc – Value $13

Sauvignon Blanc is one of my favorite wines, so I always make a point to try out new bottles that pop up on the Winc site. This one is from Marlborough, New Zealand (one of the most famous regions for Sauvignon Blanc!), and it’s really delicious. There’s a fresh, bright acidity and the flavor is fruity and citrusy.

2015 Big Beat Red Blend – Value $13

The second bottle I picked out this month is this red blend, and I have to admit that I ordered it largely because of the adorably festive label. How perfect is this for Valentine’s Day?!

Luckily, the wine is just as tasty as the label is cute. It’s a fruit-forward blend of Petit Verdot and Syrah, and it’s really yummy. I think this would be great with food, but it’s also flavorful and easy drinking enough to enjoy on its own.

2015 Matchlock Cabernet Sauvignon – Value $15

Next, I picked out this bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s a little fruitier and brighter than I usually expect a Cab to be, but it’s still really tasty. The flavor reminds me of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and baking spices.

2013 Dime Red Blend – Value $19

I ordered a bottle of Winc’s Dime Red Blend last month, and I loved it so much that I ordered it again this month! Winc crafted this wine in the classic Bordeaux style (it’s a blend of five Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Merlot), and it’s absolutely delicious. It’s rich and full-bodied, and the flavor reminds me of dark red berries, earth, and spice. I love this wine.

Verdict: This was a great Winc box! I really like all of the wines I picked out this month, and I’m absolutely in love with the Dime Blend. It’s so good! If you like trying new small-production wines that you can’t find in the grocery store (or you’re looking for a wine subscription that allows you to hand pick the bottles you receive), I definitely recommend checking out Winc!

What do you think of Winc? What bottles did you pick this month?
